About a year and a half ago I was in a place in life that I did not especially like. You see I had hit a wall. At that point I had been self employed for about eight years, and although I was able to make a living, I was just barley scraping by. I was working in my business, not on my business.
I was frustrated! My business wasn’t going the way I had envisioned it. I was working so hard but not really getting anywhere, and that frustration seeped into my personal life as well. Everything was braking down. I was burned out. I didn’t really like what I was doing very much any more. I had more arguments with my wife, and even the way I interacted with my kids was being affected.
I knew I needed help. I knew I needed some mentoring and some new skill sets, but had no idea how to go about finding these things. I am an artist, and paint dreamscape oil paintings for a living. I also own a decorative arts studio that specializes in murals and faux for high end homes. As chance would have it. A good friend of mine told me about a terrific artist by the name of Patrick Carney. At the time I had no idea who Patrick was, or how he was about to influence my life. All I knew was that he was prolific artist, and that he was good at selling his art.
After some hesitation I picked up the phone and gave Patrick a call, and invited him to come out to a gallery opening I was part off. I was one of the featured artists. I figured if Patrick showed up perhaps I might be able to ask him what he was doing that worked so well for him. Well Patrick did show up and we talked briefly. I did not sell anything that night and I was again disappointed. However I got something better…an invitation to have breakfast with Patrick.
As Patrick and I sat at Café 101 in Encinitas CA. Patrick talked and I listened. He told me about this Mastermind group that he headed. I had experience with business networking groups in the past, but had never heard of a mastermind until that day. I asked Patrick if I could attend one of the meetings to see what it was all about, so on a Tuesday morning with Patrick’s permission I drove out to a beautiful home in La Costa Ca. and attended my first mastermind.
As I sat there for the next two and a half hours with eleven people I had never met before, I felt right at home. I realized almost instantly that the people I was sitting with were just like me. Well there was one big difference. These people had a wealth of information, and they were willing to share it with me for free. How many business professionals do you know that are willing to give you there time, advice, knowledge, friendship and ask nothing in return, except that you do the same. A few weeks later I was asked to join the mastermind and I have not looked back.
Since then the mastermind group has provided guidance and support, which was instrumental to my success today. Our mastermind group also has alliances with many leaders, visionaries and transformational gurus. One of these people is DC. Cordova, who owns an accelerated learning program called (Money & You). Many world famous people have graduated from the program, and with good reason. It changes people’s lives and the way they see money and conduct business. Within a few months of taking the course and with the help of my mastermind group I have grown my business and earnings by 300%. Mind you we are supposed to be in a recession.
Change has also occurred in my personal life. The way I see and interact with family and friends has become more dynamic. I can’t be more excited about the turn my life has taken, and the many possibilities that lay ahead for me. The important thing to remember is that Mastermind groups work as a team. It is not just about the individual. This is why we created the Mastermind mindset website that you are currently on. This website is intended to help people create and enjoy the type of success we have achieved as a group and as individuals.

What a great story Alex. As I read it I was hit with how valuable this site is. I love that we are here to help grow the Mastermind community. In that grows unity and Business. Thus growing the economy. If we all want to see any economy grow over the world a Mastermind is a powerfu toolto bring that to pass. How blessed I feel daily for this group of powerful, humble, loving, intelligent people. Sasha – I love your story! And I celebrate your success!!! I love your passion, and I love your art! When we first met I thought that you fit right in. You were and still are that “sponge” that is hungry to soak in all the wonderful information we discuss in our group every week. You clearly were ready to expand your comfort zone and make some massive positive changes. And then you went to “Money & You”, and I saw a whole another set of lights go on in you. I feel that “Money & You” does that, especially for those who are ready, and that being part of a well-run Mastermind (thank you, Pat!!!) expands on it – big time! One of the really important aspects of our Mastermind group is that we constantly stay in the conversation of self improvement. Recently Dr. Rob Irwin came and spoke to us about training your brain and that it takes 90 days to train in a new belief system. Since then I know even more clearly that what we do in our Mastermind makes all the difference in the world!
